Our Walking Safari starts early in the morning, as the sun creeps over the horizon and the animals stir. You’ll enter the wilderness following your Timon Safaris guide’s hearty breakfast and safety briefing.

As you walk through the bushveld, your experienced guide, armed only with a walking stick and a comprehensive knowledge of the land, will lead you, teaching you about the diverse ecosystem. You’ll learn to understand animal behaviour, tracking techniques, and even about the medicinal uses of plants.

Every sound, every smell, every track on the ground becomes an essential part of the experience. Spotting wildlife on foot is a different experience – it’s slower, quieter, and makes you feel truly connected to nature. From observing the fascinating social structure of a termite mound to witnessing a herd of elephants bathing in a waterhole, a Walking Safari offers a raw and intimate encounter with nature.

Timon Safaris conducts walking safaris in small groups for your safety and to minimise disturbance to wildlife. This offers a personalised experience, with ample opportunities to ask questions and take photographs. A support vehicle with refreshments is always nearby.

Midway through the walk, we pause for a well-earned break, where you can enjoy refreshments under the shade of an Acacia tree. Listen to the sounds of the wild, soak up the serenity of the environment, and reflect on the unique experiences you’ve enjoyed.

The walking safari concludes at the lodge, where you can enjoy a refreshing drink and share your experiences with fellow adventurers. At the same time, the sun dips below the horizon, and the air fills with the evocative sounds of the African night.
