The day begins with a hearty breakfast at your accommodation, preparing you for a memorable hike to the waterfalls on Mount Meru, Tanzania 's second highest peak. After a scenic drive of about an hour, you will reach the foot of Mount Meru, where the adventure begins. The easy 30-40 minute hike to the waterfalls will take you through a lush rainforest, where you will hear exotic birds chirping and feel the freshness of the mountain air. The waterfall on Mount Meru, at over 80 meters high, is an impressive sight - the water cascades noisilyinto a natural pool, creating a fine mist that cools the atmosphere. You will have time to take photos and enjoy the scenery, and your local guide will tell you about the flora and fauna of the area, including the black and white colobus, endemic monkeys that can be spotted in the trees. On the way back from the waterfalls, you'll stop at some superb lookout points, which offer stunning views of Arusha and the plains stretching into the distance. Your return to your accommodation will be followed by a delicious lunch and a comforting dinner, both served in the lodge's cozy ambience, where you will savor fresh, Tanzanian-inspired dishes such as ugali, nyama choma (grilled meat) and seasonal vegetables.
Today the real safari adventure begins! After an energizing breakfast, you'll set off for Lake Manyara National Park, located about two hours from Arusha, a nature sanctuary renowned for its varied landscapes and rich wildlife. The park, lying at the foot of the Great African Rift, is a mosaic of ecosystems: dense tropical rainforests, open savannahs and wetlands dominated by Lake Manyara, which attracts thousands of pink flamingos in the right season. The safari will take you through a forest of acacia and baobab trees, where you'll have the chance to spot elephant, giraffe and herds of antelope grazing peacefully. Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions, a rare behavior that allows them to escape insects and survey the savannah - keep your eyes peeled for this unique scene! The park is also home to over 400 species of birds, from pelicans and yellow storks to ospreys, providing excellent opportunities for birdwatching enthusiasts. A highlight of the day is crossing the Hanging Walkway, one of the longest in Africa, built among the tall forest trees. From the walkway, situated at a height of up to 18 meters, you will have a breathtaking view of the forest canopy and the wildlife below, an experience that combines adrenaline with the beauty of nature. Lunch will be a picnic in the middle of the park, surrounded by the sounds of the savannah, and in the afternoon you'll continue your exploration, searching for hippos and crocodiles along the lakeshore. In the evening, you'll arrive in Karatu, a quiet town close to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you'll relax at your accommodation after a day of discovery.
This day will take you on an in-depth cultural journey in the Lake Eyasi region, where you will meet two of Tanzania's most fascinating tribes: the Hadzabe and Datoga. After an early breakfast, you'll depart for the arid area around the lake, a journey of about an hour and a half, passing through wild landscapes of acacia and scraggly baobab trees. The Hadzabe are one of Africa's last hunter-gatherer peoples, living in harmony with nature for thousands of years. You will spend the morning with them, participating in their daily activities: you will learn how they make bows and arrows from natural materials, how they track animals by marks left in the ground and how they light fires using only sticks and dry grass. If you're lucky, you'll be able to observe a demonstration hunt, a ritual that reflects their remarkable survival skills. Next, you'll visit the Datoga tribe, a people of shepherds and craftsmen renowned for their metalworking skills. Datoga women wear brass and leather jewelry, and the men are often skilled blacksmiths - you'll see how they melt metal to create tools and ornaments, a process handed down from generation to generation. Local guides will tell you about the traditions and beliefs of these communities, giving you a deeper understanding of their way of life, which contrasts with the modernity of the contemporary world. Lunch will be served alfresco, overlooking the arid landscape of the region, and in the afternoon you will return to Karatu to relax at your accommodation. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner, with time to reflect on the day's unique cultural experiences and prepare for the Serengeti adventure ahead.
Today you'll head to the legendary Serengeti National Park, but the journey itself is an unforgettable adventure. After a savory breakfast, depart from Karatu through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a vast and spectacular region that connects the savannas of the south and the north. The drive will take you to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO site considered one of the natural wonders of the world, where the dramatic scenery - with green grasslands, herds of zebra and Masai herders and their flocks - will take your breath away. The first stop of the day will be at the Olduvai Gorge Museum, located in the 'cradle of humanity', a site of major archaeological significance. Olduvai Gorge is famous for the discoveries made by paleontologists Louis and Mary Leakey, who found human fossils dating back 1.8 million years, including the skull of the 'Nut Man' (Zinjanthropus). You'll explore the museum, which houses fascinating exhibits, replicas of the fossils and an observation point overlooking the gorge itself, where layers of rock tell the story of human evolution. Your guide will explain the importance of this site and how discoveries here have changed our understanding of our origins. After this foray into history, you'll continue on to the Serengeti, a 14,763 km² national park renowned for its endless landscapes and incredible biodiversity. The name 'Serengeti' comes from the Maasai language and means 'endless plains', and as you enter the park, you'll understand why: golden savannah stretches as far as the eye can see, dotted with solitary acacia trees and kopjes (rock formations) that hide lions and leopards. In the evening, you'll arrive at your accommodation in the heart of the park, where you'll be greeted by the sounds of the African night - from the distant roars of lions to the chirping of crickets - as you enjoy dinner under the starry sky.
This is a day dedicated to exploring Serengeti National Park, a place that defines the essence of the African safari. You start early in the morning at sunrise, when the savannah comes alive in the golden sunlight. The crisp morning air is filled with sounds - from hippo calls to hyena laughter - and the animals are most active during this part of the day. The safari will focus on tracking the Great Migration, one of the most impressive natural phenomena on the planet, when over 1.5 million wildebeest, accompanied by zebra and antelope, cross the Serengeti in search of fresh grazing. In October, the migration is often in full swing in the north of the park, where you'll have the chance to see massive herds crossing rivers and plains, closely watched by predators such as lions, leopards and crocodiles. The Seronera area, located in the heart of the Serengeti, is renowned for its high animal density - here you'll spot the 'Big Five' (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo), as well as cheetahs, giraffe, hyenas and a plethora of birds, from vultures to colorful weavers. Your guide will lead you through diverse habitats, from open grasslands to acacia woodlands along the rivers, giving you detailed information about animal behavior and the park's ecosystem. Lunch will be a picnic in the middle of the savannah, under the shade of a solitary tree, where you can admire the scenery while savoring your meal. In the afternoon, the safari continues, with stops for photos and to observe unique scenes, such as a family of elephants bathing or a cheetah stalking its prey with incredible precision. Towards evening, you'll return to your accommodation, where you'll have time to relax, share stories of the day and enjoy a delicious dinner under the starry skies, surrounded by the magic of the Serengeti.
Your Serengeti adventure continues with another day of discovery, giving you the opportunity to explore even more of this extraordinary ecosystem. After an energizing breakfast, you set off on another safari, this time focusing on different areas of the park to discover varied landscapes and new wildlife encounters. The Serengeti is renowned for its diversity - you'll cross golden savannahs, where herds of wildebeest and zebra seem to stretch on forever, and rocky areas known as kopjes, which are favorite vantage points for lions and leopards. These granite formations, carved by wind and time, provide a dramatic contrast to the surrounding plains and are an ideal place to spot predators in action - a lion loll on a rock or a leopard lurking in the crevices, stalking its prey. You'll also have the chance to observe more delicate scenes, such as a family of elephants protecting their young or a giraffe gracefully reaching out to eat acacia leaves. Your guide will tell you about the complex relationships between species in the Serengeti, from the food chain to the animals' social behaviors, giving you a deeper understanding of this unique ecosystem. Lunch will again be a picnic in the midst of nature, perhaps by a river where hippos splash noisily, and in the afternoon you'll continue your exploration, looking for rare moments such as a cheetah in full sprint or a herd of buffalo crossing the plains. As the sun sets, you'll capture spectacular views of the African sunset, with the sky painted in shades of orange and pink, reflecting over the savannah. In the evening, you'll return to your accommodation for a comforting dinner, with time to reflect on the incredible experiences of the past few days and prepare for the next leg of your journey: relaxing in Zanzibar.
After a final morning in the Serengeti, you will enjoy your breakfast surrounded by the scenery that has enchanted you over the last few days, with the sound of birds and the murmur of the wind through the savannah. Today you will leave the vastness of the park and make your way to Seronera Airport, a small airfield in the heart of the Serengeti, from where you will fly to Zanzibar. The drive to the airport will give you the last glimpses of the endless plains, with the chance to spot wildlife - perhaps a giraffe soaring above the acacias or a herd of antelope running in the distance. The short flight to Zanzibar will take you over continental landscapes, gradually replaced by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean and the island's white sandy beaches. Zanzibar, known as the 'Spice Island', is an archipelago with a rich history, influenced by African, Arabic, Indian and European cultures, and renowned for its paradisiacal beaches and exotic atmosphere. Arrival in Zanzibar marks the end of the safari part of the tour organized by Marian Adventures and Sorin Constantinescu in partnership with Timon Safaris and the beginning of a period of total relaxation. You will be transferred to your accommodation, where you will be greeted by warm ocean breezes and the fragrance of tropical flowers, preparing you for the days of pampering to come.
Day 9 marks your first full day of relaxation in Zanzibar, where you'll be pampered with an All Inclusive plan that allows you to enjoy your vacation without the hassle. The morning will start with a delicious breakfast served al fresco, where you'll savor fresh tropical fruits such as mango, pineapple and papaya, along with natural juices and a flavorful Arabic-influenced coffee, while the ocean breeze cools you down. The Dream of Zanzibar' s fine white sandy beaches, fringed by palm trees and the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean, are the perfect corner of paradise to relax in. You can spend hours swimming in the warm waters, sunbathing in the tropical sun or reading a book under a reed umbrella, with the sound of the waves as a soothing backdrop. For the more adventurous, the resort offers snorkeling opportunities just nearby, where coral reefs reveal a vibrant underwater world full of colorful tropical fish, starfish and, if you're lucky, sea turtles. Alternatively, you can opt for a stroll on the beach, exploring the small local souvenir shops or interacting with the fishermen as they prepare their traditional dhow boats for a day at sea. Mornings can be spent on the beach, where you'll have time to indulge in swimming, sunbathing or water sports such as kayaking or paddleboarding, available through the resort. For those interested in local culture, you have the option of exploring Stone Town, the island's capital and a UNESCO site. The town 's narrow streets are a labyrinth of old buildings, with carved teakwood doors and ornate balconies, reflecting Swahili, Arabic and Indian influences. You can visit the House of Wonders, the Sultan's Palace or Darajani Market, where the smell of cloves, cinnamon and vanilla fills the air - Zanzibar is not called the 'Spice Island ' for nothing! Another optional activity is a spice plantation tour, where you'll discover how cloves, nutmeg and cardamom are grown and harvested, and have the chance to taste exotic fruits straight from the tree. If you prefer aquatic adventure, an optional diving excursion or dolphin-watching cruise will allow you to explore the coral reefs and meet playful dolphins in their natural habitat. Evenings will be magical, with romantic dinners on the beach, accompanied by the sound of the waves and traditional Taarab music, combining African and Arabic rhythms. Whether you choose to relax at the resort's spa, explore the island or simply enjoy Zanzibar's tropical beauty, these days will be the perfect balance between rest and discovery.
The final day of the tour gives you the last moments to savor the exotic beauty of Zanzibar. Depending on the time of your flight, you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, savoring the island's tropical flavors - perhaps a fresh fruit juice or a coffee with Arabian notes, admiring the ocean waves. If time permits, take one last walk on the white sandy beach, feeling the warm breeze, or visit the local shops to purchase souvenirs such as handcrafted jewelry, wood carvings or traditional spices to remind you of your trip. You will then be transferred to Zanzibar's Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for your return flight, ending a memorable experience with Marian Adventures, Sorin Constantinescu and Timon Safaris - a tour that combined safari adventure with relaxation on the beaches of Zanzibar, revealing the beauty and diversity of Tanzania.
